Emigrate to Western Australia

Covering one third of the entire Australasian continent, Western Australia is the largest state in Australia. It is also the most arid and for this reason home to only 2.3 million people, with 1.7 million of them based in the state's capital Perth.

Perth has a Mediterranean climate with more hours of sunshine than any other city in Australia. The city is eight hours ahead of GMT and two hours behind the country's capital Canberra. Known as the city of lights, Perth is famous for its pristine beaches and leafy woodland. It's also popular with surfers due to its world class surf beaches.

Western Australia is often referred to as the country's "Engine Room" this is mainly due to its abundance of natural resources and booming mining industry. Among other materials, 40% of the world's Uranium and 50% of the world's Tantalum are found in this area as well as large reserves of oil. Western Australia currently provides 36% of all of Australia's overseas exports.

Contrasting Perth's Mediterranean climate, the weather in the rest of the state is quite varied. The south, like Perth, runs a generic four season cycle whereas the north of the state has a tropical climate with only two seasons - wet and dry. The wet season runs from October to March and the dry season from April to September.
