Emigrate to Victoria
As Australia's second smallest state, Victoria is roughly the same size as the British Isles covering 227,416 square kilometres. Despite its small size, Victoria is Australia's second most populated state with around five million people living there, around 70% of these live in the capital Melbourne. Victoria has a diverse culture with residents migrating from over 200 different countries - one quarter of the State's population was born overseas.Situated on the Yarra River, Melbourne is famous for its glamorous events and festivals. The city is also rated as having the best shopping in the whole of Australia. But in between the vibrance and fast-paced culture of the city you can still find quiet tranquil gardens and parks, ideal to relax and unwind in.
Although Victoria is commonly known for having "four seasons in one day", the weather across the State does vary greatly. The north is much warmer and drier than the south, but both are classed as having a semi-arid climate. In summer the average temperature is 25C and drops to an average of 14C during winter. Melbourne receives around 2200 hours of sunshine each year.
Melbourne is famous for its sporting events and hosts several world famous spectacles each year, making it the sporting capital of Australia. These events include the Australian Open tennis, the Formula One Grand Prix and the Melbourne Cup, one of the world's premiere horse races. In addition to these sporting events, the city offers an International Flower and Garden Show, an International Arts Festival and an International Comedy Festival.
Victoria is home to a range of popular resources, which has led to the creation of industry and jobs. The state is the nation's biggest producer of mutton and lamb and has major industries in energy and manufacturing. The state is also famous for its wine production which mainly comes from the popular Yarra Valley region.
