Emigrate to The Northern Territory

Although the Northern Territory covers around 20 per cent of Australia it is one of the least densely populated areas with a population of just under 230,000. The Territory occupies the central northern area of Australia and borders Queensland, Western Australia and South Australia.

Darwin is the Territory's capital and accounts for just over half of the entire Territory's population. Growing from humble beginnings, Darwin today is one of the most multicultural and modern cities in Australia and a very popular place for new immigrants who can settle quickly into the vibrant and popular culture.

The majority of the Northern Territory enjoys a tropical climate and divides into two seasons - wet and dry. The wet season generally runs from October to May and consists of high levels of humidity and evening tropical storms. The dry season running from May to October provides endless days of sunshine with very little rain and a low humidity of around 30 per cent. The Territory regularly records average temperatures in excess of 30C.

Uluru or "Ayers Rock" as it is commonly known is one of Northern Territory's most popular tourist attractions bringing tens of thousands of tourists to the neighbouring town of Alice Springs each year. The Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park, situated in the south of the Territory is a place of sacred worship for the Aboriginal people - Australian natives - and consists of many large rock formations, springs and ancient paintings.

Mining and tourism account for the two largest economies in the Northern Territory and both are currently in great demand. Eight per cent of Darwin residents are currently employed within the Tourism industry and this provides more job opportunities due to increasing tourism in the area. The mining industry has seen a boom with the recent discovery of oil in the East Timor region making the Northern Territory the perfect spot for new mining workers.
