Almost half of all Brits considering overseas migration

April 16, 2012

The British weather, cost of living and availability of jobs all top the list as reasons to why 48% of all British people are considering a move overseas – according to recent survey by The Sun newspaper.

The poll quizzed 1,650 adults about aspects of living in the UK and whether they would consider relocation and why.

New Zealand, Australia, Canada and the US have topped the list of relocation targets, and with almost 52% of participants listing the cost of living and 37% the weather as reasons for a move, it’s not hard to see why.

Some other reasons for leaving included the worsening of the economy, education, the NHS and crime in the last 20 years.

When asked what they would most miss about Britain, the countryside, the NHS and television were the top three responses with sport, people and the food following closely behind.

Perhaps the most shocking result was the mere 13% of respondees who felt that the children would have a better quality of life than they currently receive.
